Mbarara municipality which was elevated to Mbarara City that started Wednesday July 01, 2020 will officially be launched on Friday July 3, 2020 by the Minister of local government Hon Raphael Magyezi, the Town Clerk Mbarara City Theophelus Tibihika has announced.
He assured the general public that as a city it will bring a lot of opportunities but with responsibilities to client stakeholders who need to ensure important aspects are taken seriously such as physical planning for the city to grow on a planned plate.
Tibihika said this during a briefing held at Kakiika division Mbarara City as he welcomed the people of Mbarara into the city .
Tibihika explained that anybody who plans to put up a structure of any kind temporary or permanent must have development permission that is approved by the city council that will help to avoid slums in the beautiful city of Mbarara.
He warned all those that will be tempted to litter the city, that the city council in collaboration with the private sector have instituted mechanisms to ensure there is an organized program of garbage management where individual people will pay for it to have a clean city under enabling policy.
The Kakiika division Chairperson who is the interim Mbarara north Chairperson Mr. Kyabwisho Gumisiriza said he is glad to his colleagues of Biharwe and Kamukuzi to have accepted Kakiika being a strategic location to host the new north division offices that has adequate infrastructure and located in the centre.
The former Mbarara municipality councilor Jolly Tumwine thanked the Lord, the president, the cabinet among stakeholders for permitting the establishment of Mbarara city urging the people to ensure love, unity, working together as a team to have a wonderful city.
The Mbarara City production officer Dr Moses Amanyire said they are looking at introducing favourable farming technologies in both crop and livestock for improving technologies of integrated farming to boost production that will meet demands of food within the city.
He said as Mbarara city, public health related issues on disease control and pet ownership and urban farming are regulated to enjoy good and quality products for better human health.
